All primary producers at the Peterborough Regional Farmers' Market grow or produce 100% of the product they sell.  Each vendor is third party verified. Follow the links under our vendor profile pictures to view certifications and verifications. The Peterborough Regional Farmers' Network also enjoys the great privilege of visiting all vendors at their farms to build a connection and level of trust, which we can then pass onto our customers with utmost confidence. We believe in transparency and providing our community with local food we can all trust.

 CARROT TOP ORGANICS

Carrot Top Organics started in 2006 as a summer job for a 20-year-old university student in Toronto's Kensington Market when his hair was still red. Through focused vision and dedication, along with lots of mentorship and experience with seasoned farms, Josh Blank  et al purchased a family farm 15 years later near Hastings Ontario. Carrot Top Organics is reborn in the beautiful Asphodel-Norwood Township of Peterborough County, Ontario. It sits adjacent to the Ouse River and boasts fertile agricultural land with Otonabee loam soil, forest, pasture and wetlands. Now, 2/3 of his children sport carrot coloured hair! Carrot Top Organics proudly grows more than 50 varieties of delicious vegetables and legumes, which are offered directly to customers through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and the esteemed Peterborough Regional Farmers’ Market. Our commitment to sustainable farming practices is bolstered by the active pursuit of organic certification. Join us in enjoying the fruit (and vegetables!) of our labor as we create nourishing, sustainable food options for our community and beyond.

Cedar Grove

We are a small scale, uncertified organic farm, operating in the Kawartha Lakes area. Historically, we specialized in garlic, growing over 40 varieties at one time. Since 2018, we have diversified and expanded into mixed vegetable market gardening and selling through farmer's markets. We believe firmly in the importance of celebrating local economy and paying fair prices. We are concerned for our planet, plastic use in agriculture, and the arbitrary standards of perfect produce. The farm is run by Scott King, with help from his partner Beth, and a pretty sweet farm dog. Scott King joined the farm in 2012, working the summers while attending the University of Guelph for Horticulture. He completed the Sustainable Agriculture Program at Fleming College in 2015, after which he both took over the business at Cedar Grove Organic Farm, and began work as the program tech, and soil sciences teacher for the Sustainable Agriculture Program. When he's not farming, he's working, and when he's not working, he's farming

Nautilus Farm

Located in the foothills of the Indian River, Nautilus Farm was founded with a strong vision of sustainability and stewardship of the earth. We strive to provide the highest quality, organically grown (currently non-certified) farm produce available to all at affordable prices. The market garden side of the business has become somewhat specialized in garlic production and now provides the community with a reliable source of premium seed garlic. The long term vision of the farm is to create a system of agroforestry where the natural forces that maintain forest systems are put to use growing food from fruit and nut trees. To that end, we have been planting out a great number of different perennial food producing trees and shrubs to determine which are the most suitable to our region and would be good candidates for larger scale diversified agroforesty. We are currently offering some of those perennials at the market for spring plantings.

Products: Garlic, garlic scapes, seed garlic, cherry tomatoes, large tomatoes, aronia berries, sweet and hot peppers, radish, beets, carrots, kale, lettuce, spinach, squash, pumpkins, onions, tomatillos, beans, basil, eggplant, zucchini, cucumber, potatoes, rhubarb, and perhaps other 100% farm grown fruit and vegetables. I will also be selling fruit and nut producing perennials such as hazelnuts, aronia berries and others.

SELWYN GARLIC FARMS

Sean has come from a long line of Dairy Farmers outside of Hamilton.  After moving to Peterborough in 1995 for employment, Sean longed to return to the farm life.  In 2010 Sean and Theresa purchased their own farm in Selwyn township.  It only took a few years of Cash Cropping before Sean and Theresa felt the need to connect more closely with the community who benefit from the food they produce.  Since 2015 the Wilson family farm has moved more acres every year toward "direct to table" foods.  Specializing in garlic, the Wilsons offer sweet corn with the intention of growing a larger variety of produce every year.  Selwyn Garlic Farms is supported by 3 generations working toward providing a quality product.

Products: spring garlic, garlic scapes, garlic pesto, garlic bulbs, garlic braids, seed garlic, garlic powder and sweet corn
